back atcha

by: j.e.d.i.

Nothing else epitomizes an acronym quite like J.E.D.I.—“Jazz Electronic Dance Improvised.” Brainchild of Brazilian Girls’ Aaron Johnston, the group’s debut track “Back Atcha” kicks the audience in the face with uptempo funk reminiscent of a Headhunters vibe. From there, it stews into a satisfying house groove laced with a saxophone solo courtesy of Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic. As the track ramps back up with its sweaty, dance-like funk motifs Johnson’s vision is evident—J.E.D.I. is a project that is, “fun for you mind and fun for your body.”
